    Poker, is one of the well-loved games not only in casinos, but in other gatherings as well. It is one of the many activities you can do with family members and friends. The game gets more exciting because of the "pot". A pot is the sum of money to be won by a player single handed. Unlike other games which rely on chance, poker is a game of skills, wit, and strategy. A player's success depends upon one's thinking skills and ability to outwit his opponent.

    One of these skills is called bluffing. Bluffing means to deceive or act. It is considered an art form for those who play poker. It is a skill of one player to mislead an opponent of his moves. It is a way of being in control of your opponent's move.

    You will know if you are in control if your opponent if they suddenly change a move which is favorable to your cards. Bluffing can convince or influence others what to do or to believe in. A good poker player should know when is the right time to bluff, because timing is everything. Besides, a good player considers the fact that the opponent is bluffing as well.

    Since, timing is everything, there are indicators when to bluff your opponent. It is the right time for you to bluff if you are against an tight player. You may easily intimidate an tight player and get them to fold. Second is when an opponent needs to have a flush or straight. One may bluff then and everyone will assume you took control of the game. It is also good to bluff when your cards are positive to act as if you have no cards so you can get bigger pots.

    There are times when a player should minimize bluffing. You should not bluff when you do not any idea of your opponents' cards or playing style. Also, if you see that your opponent expects that you are going to do so. If there is flush and straight draws. If you have an over populated hand, meaning you still have many cards with you. When you feel that you are losing your style, take a break from bluffing and try to keep your focus first.

    A successful poker player also knows when an opponent is bluffing. When an opponent misses a flop, he is bluffing you. Or if an opponent wants to steal the pot. If your opponent does this to you, there are ways to counter these moves. One is to re-raise your opponent. Two, is to make your call.

    Bluffing is a tough move for a poker player. However, this is what a player's success relies on. One has to be cautious in making this move. A successful poker player knows when to bluff and why a player needs to bluff. The secret is to practice well and hard. Be confident and try not to get easily intimidated by your opponent.
